Home time

Hi Everyone,

Today is my last day in London, as the World Championships drew to a close last night. I am excited to be heading home, as it is always tough being away. The championships were a mixed bag for me… disappointment in not progressing to the 400H semi finals and then happiness to be part of the women’s 4x400m relay team that finished 10th in the world.

As always, I will use these experiences as motivation, as my attention now turns to the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, in just over 200 days time!

A big thank you to everyone for their support – family, friends and the Canberra community from back home in Australia – the encouragement is always appreciated. Thank you to the Athletics Australia Team staff, athletes and coaches for their support on and off the track. Big thank you to my fabulous coach Matt Beckenham. We took a risk with our preparation into these Championships, which didn’t quite pay off, but we have a lot of exciting things to pursue when we are back in Canberra and leading into Comm Games.

My parents, Neil and Kerry – thank you for travelling the world and being my ‘home away from home’ in the crowd each session. It is always amazing to have you close by when I am competing and I can’t thank you both enough. My amazing husband Heath – thank you for continually supporting me on my athletics journey. It isn’t always easy, especially when I am away for so long, but your love, support and selflessness is appreciated more than you know. I love you.

Looking forward to a short break at home and then getting back into training for a huge 2018!!

Thanks again to everyone!
Lauren 🙂
