On Thursday June 27th I competed in the first 400H of my European campaign, at the IAAF World Challenge Meet – Ostrava Golden Spike (Czech Republic). I finished 3rd in a Season’s Best time of 55.55sec. This is my 6th fastest time ever and by far the fastest opening run I have had in Europe.
I executed my race plan quite well and was very excited and relieved to have run a 55sec time again. I am looking forward to having a few more races over the next couple of weeks and am really excited to see what I can produce!
Full results and race footage will hopefully be available soon! Check out my ’2013 Blog’ page for further insight into my Ostrava trip.
Exciting news to report – I have been confirmed for the Women’s 400H at the 52nd Ostrava Golden Spike IAAF World Challenge Meet which will take place on Thursday 27th June (Czech Republic).
This is an exceptionally high level meet, and although I have not yet seen the start lists, I know that the 400H field will be world class. It will be my first race of the European season and what better way than to go straight into a high level meet?!

I am in Germany! I arrived on Monday afternoon in Cologne, Germany with my travelling companions MattyB and Mel. After 30hrs of rather smooth travel, we arrived at the house in Cologne that we will call home for the next 6wks.
We have a lot of space and it is nice to be able to walk to the supermarket or do the washing – very boring but normal activities that make the transition over here a lot easier.
We have access to a fantastic school, which has a gym and track (less than 1yr old!) and they have also leant us bikes to make the commute to and from training so much quicker! Matty did some great research while we were still in Australia and we are more than happy with the facilities we have access to.
Training has been great so far; Wednesday I did 5×200 in 30+ degree heat! Thursday was gym day (pictured above, thanks to MattyB!) where some of the local instructors were taking notes on some new exercises they saw us doing! And today (Friday) I had a speed session in the rain!
Next week I will have my first 400H race of the European summer, which is very exciting! Please check out my ’2013 race schedule’ page for more information and also my ’2o13 blog’ on what else I have been up to!
As per my last post, about being the ACT’s Walk Safely to School Day Ambassador, and also being selected to represent Australia at the World Championships in Moscow, Russia Aug 10-18, I have been receiving some media attention in Canberra recently. To check it all out head to my ’2013 Media’ page and enjoy what you see and read!
It gives me great pleasure to announce that I am the official ambassador for the ACT’s Walk Safely to School Day, which is taking place at St. Bede’s Primary School, Red Hill on Friday May 24th. It is very exciting and humbling to have been chosen as the sole ambassador; I feel like I am a worthy choice though as I used to walk to primary school when I was younger!
Walk Safely to School Day is endorsed by the Pedestrian Council of Australia and encourages all children, Australia-wide, to walk and commute safely to school on Friday May 24th. Here are just some of the benefits of walking to school:
- it is a healthy way to start the day, creating regular walking habits from an early age
- ensuring children are aware of the correct road-crossing skills
- reduce car dependency that can be created at an early age
- promotion of public transport
- reduce the level of air pollution and traffic congestion created by cars
It is a great initiative and I would strongly encourage all schools to get involved! For more information, check out www.walk.com.au and remember -

Tonight I return to the track where I will be competing in the Women’s 400m Hurdles as part of the Qantas Melbourne World Challenge Meet at 630pm Albert Park.
Training has been going well and I am excited to see what I can run tonight as I prepare for the World Championship Selection Trials next week in Sydney.
Check out my blog to see what I have been up to over the last couple of weeks.
As my title would suggest… I’m BACK! I’m sorry it has been so long but I haven’t had much to report! For a full run down on what I have been up to, please check out my ’2013 Blog’ page. As my 2013 season has just started I will be posting footage and race analysis as well as general updates on my website much more regularly!
I hope you enjoy what you read and see and can continue on my amazing athletics journey with me!
